New bill forces the EPA to justify benefits of regulations

Acid Rain?

Acid rain or autumn scene? Photo:

When you take the time to look at the activities of your CongressThugs and SenateSlugs; you’ll quickly learn that they judge their productivity by the number of bills they pass. The vast majority of bills cost you money and also chip away at your freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitution. That’s because each bill either adds a tax to something, prevents you from doing something, or imperiously demands you get their permission to engage in a whole bunch of somethings. And these highly paid thugs in Washington, DC rarely ever even read the bills they vote yes on. Maybe it’s partly because they simply do what their pimps in DC tell them to do.

Take Obamacare for example. Polls indicated 60% of Americans were against this federal government’s unconstitutional grab of the private health care industry. Yet the bill passed both in the House and Senate, and was signed by our Communist President, Mr. Obama. This bill is extra special because it not only will significantly raise the cost of healthcare in America – it also takes away many freedoms that US citizens currently enjoy.

That’s why you need to first laugh out loud (LOL!) at a bill sitting in Congress that forces the overstuffed and over paid porkers languishing in government to actually do a cost-benefit analysis on new regulations coming from the Dictators at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Then you need to demand a yes vote from your CongressThug and SenateSlug. It’s about time this special class of royalty provided some real value to the taxpayers.

From our friends at Georgia Magazine comes this alert: “[HR 2401] the TRAIN Act requires the government to consider the broad implications of new EPA regulations on the consumer...”. And it’s about damn time the government stopped backdoor taxing of consumers via regulations and fees on businesses. Because it’s not the company paying the taxes or the cost of complying with absurd EPA mandates – it’s you. Every time a DC thug decides to slap another tax, fee, or mandate on a company or energy generating utility, you’re the one who pays for it. You should be screaming at the top of your lungs when EPA boasts about all the fresh air they’re going to give you because when they’re done with you, fresh air is about all you’ll find in your wallet and bank account.

You can argue that utilities want to charge you whatever they can but when the meddlers from EPA jump in, the utility ends up raising prices to pay government mandates. The only entity making any profit on that is the government. And this is laughable. Here you have an entity (the government) that really only serves to act as an adversary and they by fiat, extort the best part of the profit from the utility and energy producing company.

Government environmental enforcers in Australia, are now slapping fines on any company that tries to tell its customers that the latest price increases are a result of new carbon taxes now in effect there. Even though it’s true. You can be sure many companies in the US are scared to death wondering what the US federal government is going to do next. How far away is the government from slapping fines on American energy producers who reveal to their customers the depth and breadth of taxes, fees, and regulations and how much they raise consumer prices?

HR 2401 is a start. But let’s not stop there. Every American citizen should call their (I say this laughingly) “Representatives” in Washington DC. Demand they vote Yes on HR 2401. Then demand that the bill be expanded to each of the power and money grabbing agencies set up by our out-of-control federal government.

An open letter to Mike Garrett, CEO of Georgia Power

Mike Garrett

Mike Garrett CEO Georgia Power

An open letter to Mike Garrett, CEO of Georgia Power

The US federal government is in the process of implementing a Cap and Trade scheme through its regulatory agency, the EPA. This despite the American people having largely discovered that Cap and Trade is based on the patently false theory that the earth is heating up due to CO2 and other emissions. Without getting into the extensive volume of evidence to the contrary, many scientists have proffered good scientific data that suggests man made emissions do not have the drastic effect on the earth’s climate as some have claimed. In fact, many scientists agree that even draconian cuts in emission levels worldwide would only reduce average world temperatures 1/10 of one degree.

Of course, the age of innocence is over when it comes to scientists anyway. How many of us believed the scientific community without question when they issued some momentous pronouncement? Why, they’re scientists – they must be right. When the global warming issue appeared along with dire predictions that the earth was heating up because of man made emissions, the future looked bleak. We would need to make major changes to our life styles, such as cutting back on heat, air conditioning, driving our cars – raising cows… exhaling.

But we were willing because we believed that the people telling us these things were scientists and were just doing what scientists do – look at facts and make predictions based on good scientific analysis. That was then – before the world discovered that the most prestigious group of global warming scientists were – lying. And lying big time. It was a huge scandal which led many countries to rethink their Cap and Trade programs.

In the meantime, the US federal government not one to let a great opportunity slip by, successfully led the charge to pass a Cap and Trade bill. Sadly for the schemers in Washington DC, the bill passed in the House but failed in the Senate. Originally, they desperately claimed it was to stop global warming. After the ClimateGate scandal, the White House switched  gears and announced it was to reduce dependence on foreign oil. So up steps the good old EPA. Always there for you – if of course you’re a government bureaucrat looking for new ways to generate additional taxes, fees, and restrictions on liberties. And they have decreed CO2 is now a hazardous greenhouse gas that must be regulated and taxed. Absurd? You bet.

Greenhouse gas climate change is a theory. Climatologists disagree on the extent of man made change to the earth’s climate. Some propose that natural events such as volcanos and sun-spots cause far greater climate change than anything done by man.

Since we’re dealing with theories and many divergent views on climate change, and since climate change due to emissions is such a controversial subject; does it really make sense to slap carbon taxes on electric utilities and other means of production in the U.S.? Sure, it does if you want to make America sharply less competitive and reduce the nation’s standard of living – for the commoners of course – not the Ruling Class sitting in Washington DC.

Cap and Trade taxes are the most destructive tax scheme ever devised by an increasingly hostile US federal government. Its been widely reported that carbon taxes will likely double electric rates, significantly increase the cost of gasoline, and natural gas. The ripple effect will have a chilling effect on the US economy. Nearly every good and service will be forced to raise prices to pass along these new taxes. Because you see, businesses don’t pay taxes – you do. Every new tax scheme dreamed up by the dead wood in Congress and the Senate is simply passed along to customers. It can’t be any other way.

And that’s the purpose of this letter to the CEO of Georgia Power and all other utility Officers and Directors. As electric rates skyrocket, ratepayers will blame the “greedy capitalists” running the utilities. Even if you place carbon taxes on ratepayers bills as a separate line item, most consumers will associate high utility bills with ‘greedy’ utility management. As carbon taxes really kick in, you’ll be faced with many unpleasant choices but let me suggest one that is very possible. As the public blames you for high utility rates, political pressure will build for the federal government to nationalize all electric utilities – because they’ll say, the people have a right to low electric rates. But first you will experience tremendous pressure to artificially lower rates by the White Knights in the White House to levels that eliminate profits that would normally be used for maintenance.

As the government artificially raises consumers’ costs for electricity and fuels, the money is funneled into green energy schemes that include among their shareholders such eco luminaries as Al Gore and John Kerry. You’ll want to buy any alternative energy product because the US federal government will make them seem like a bargain after they slam you with carbon taxes on electricity and fuel. And alternative energy schemes may be the only game in town. When the federal government is permitted to tamper with the nation’s electric supply, you can expect electric shortages along with high bills. Rolling electric cut-backs are already being forecast in Great Britain.

I call upon all Officers and Directors of the nation’s utilities to demand an end to all Cap and Trade schemes. In addition, I call upon the utilities to engage in a communications program to alert consumers to fight any and all Cap and Trade schemes. Coal which has been vilified by the Washington DC establishment is a valuable American resource and a great way to produce inexpensive electricity.

If you fail to do this, the US federal government will turn on the utilities and make them the perpetrators of high utility rates.

Cap and trade is a taxpayer financed war which pits the federal government against American business and utilities. Washington DC is taking money from every American at gunpoint, and using it to finance lunatic spending, taxing, and regulating schemes. It must be stopped and all responsible businesses must join together with the American people to end the madness.

America the ReThuglic

Charles Rangel AP Photo

Charles Rangel Head Thug

At a meeting of southern locals recently, a southerner asked me, “Bob, don’t northerners think we southerners are backwards, ignorant, and redneck?”

I answered …

No. But if you really want to see stupid, backward, and ignorant, look no farther than New York. In a land where property taxes can easily be $10,000 per year on a pathetic little plot of land; where you have some of the highest utility and gas prices in the country; this same state has begged its socialist politicians for even more of that good stuff.

What good stuff is that you ask? Cap and trade, of course in the form of HR 2454. Every Congressthug in New York except 3 voted not only to saddle all New Yorkers with skyrocketing energy taxes, but their vote helps to enslave you and me and the rest of the nation as well. Cap and trade has already been predicted to raise electric rates by as much as 100%. Gas prices could reach $7 per gallon as they already are in Europe.

Fuel oil for heating homes could reach $7 per gallon. It touched $5 per gallon last winter. To help you understand what $7 per gallon for fuel oil means to a homeowner, you need to know that when I was a child, fuel oil was just 17 cents a gallon. We always had a nice toasty warm home. Fuel oil went to $1 per gallon when my wife and I were newly married. People laughed at us because we set our thermostat at 60º during the day and 55º at night. But we did that because heating costs were hard on our budget.

Imagine then the effect Cap and Trade (HR 2454) will have on everyone who actually has to pay for utilities. I’m not talking about those who live on the dole. They’ll have plenty of heat and A/C courtesy of the taxpayers. I’m talking about working people.

New Yorkers paying $7 per gallon fuel oil costs for heat and hot water are going to suffer tremendously. Either they’re going to freeze all winter or they’re going to pay $1500 per month heating bills. And that’s before they walk out the front door. Wait till Cap and Trade starts to drive up the costs for gasoline. All businesses will be burdened with this artificial government induced addition to the cost of energy in every form. So you’ll pay again every time you make a purchase. Many people will blame businesses for the increased costs. That’s just what your friends in the government want. They hope you’re like the rest of the New Yorkers – backwards and stupid.

Please New Yorkers – use your head and place the blame squarely where it belongs – on the thugs you elected for Congress and the Senate.

Voting map of HR 2454 - Red states clearly said NO

How they voted on HR 2454

Why did New Yorkers let their CongressThugs vote yes on a Cap and Trade bill? If you look at the map here on the left, you’ll quickly see that the majority of the US said no to Cap and Trade. The fringe areas of the country; New York, California, Michigan – those who can least afford this repressive and clearly unconstitutional bill were the very ones that carried this filthy piece of legislative trash.

You could understand support for a bill that actually helps the environment. But this bill will have very little effect on overall air and water quality. So what’s its purpose? Well let’s guess:

1.    Pay for Socialized Government Health Care; Cap and Trade will raise nearly all the money needed to fund the federal take over of the once private health care system. Of course, that’s until the government runs this program into the ground like the Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare programs. But let’s be optimistic! Cap and Trade is structured to permit quick new taxes when government health costs skyrocket. So there will be plenty of new tax revenues to pay those rising health costs.
2.    Support green businesses that couldn’t support themselves in the private free market. Cap and Trade will force investment in these businesses. Should be great for all the early investors like Al Gore who have been peddling green themes for years. If Cap and Trade had been defeated, these green businesses would end up permanently in the red.
3.    Place additional regulations and restrictions on all Americans. Cap and Trade will permit the federal government through its unconstitutional enforcement agency the EPA to enact virtually any regulation, take any action it pleases, and add fees wherever it wants – anytime it so desires.

When I looked at the voting records by state (see, I also noticed that Georgia had much smarter voting record on Cap and Trade (HR 2454). All Congresspersons with 4 exceptions, Sanford Bishop GA-2, Henry Johnson GA-4, John Lewis GA-5, and David Scott GA-13 voted against this lunatic attack on the  American economy. If I were living in the 2, 4, 5, or 13 district, I would call these pinheads and ask why they want to raise my natural gas costs 55%, or my electric bills, 100%, or my gasoline costs 50%.

So my southern friend, I must answer your question once again. No, I do not think southerners are backwards, stupid, and ignorant. In fact, the voting record of our elected officials prove that common sense and dedication to oath of office isn’t dead yet here in the south even though 4 in GA are trying real hard. And many elected officials in the south still honor the constitution, liberty, and the free pursuit of happiness.

Maybe that’s why so many in the south talk of secession.

States breath new life into Cap & Trade

David Paterson New York Governor

NY Governor David Paterson

Just when you thought it was safe to exhale – it’s back, bigger than ever. What’s back you ask? Why, cap and trade. And it’s coming to a state near you. Even though 30 thousand or so scientists say CO2 emissions aren’t really harmful and in fact are probably good for the environment; your government is not taking any chances with your health! So, they’re going to slap those evil businesses with cap and trade just to make sure you stay extra healthy!

And this is really cool: state governments are joining in with the federal government (EPA) to give companies the ole one-two punch. I can’t wait till we have nice CO2-less air to breath as we recline in government housing somewhere. Why government housing? Because we won’t have jobs anymore so we gotta live somewhere, don’t we? But who cares as long as we don’t have excess CO2. Psst, don’t tell anyone that plants absorb and thrive on CO2. That’s a secret!

From New York comes this heartwarming story of a bankrupt state with a truly caring group of government bureaucrats. Those evil power plants, the ones that deliver electricity to residents and businesses in NY have been ‘convinced’ by state thugs in the NYSDEC to purchase carbon credits in a cap and trade scheme.

This has raised $213 Million dollars to fight all that bad global warming in New York. And each year, these power plants must lower emissions or face penalties. Of course, they also must spend millions to update their equipment to lower emissions. And happy NY residents and businesses will gladly pay the extra $213 million dollars plus plant upgrade fees to lower CO2 emissions! Hey – we’re all in this together!

Now what will NY do with these new contributions from caring citizens and businesses? From the, “$112 million for Gov. David Paterson’s green jobs legislation adopted last fall, and $177 million for energy audits and energy-efficiency installation measures in homes and businesses. “

Hmm, let’s see. $112 Million dollars for green jobs legislation. We all know what that means. It’s your money funneled into green companies operating in the red ever since the American people figured out that global warming is a big hoax. So, the compassionate state of New York is using the power of government to grab from one group of profit making businesses and donate to green (uh red) losers. This should warm Al Gore’s heart and help his stock portfolio. He gets the dividend checks and NY residents get the shaft – uh I mean clean air! It’s a beautiful thing!

$177 million dollars for energy audits and other government meddling make work projects. Anyone with any brains should leave NY as fast as they can sell their house.

But hold on a minute, the TimesUnion goes on to report, “In October, the governor raided $90 million from RGGI to balance the state budget, a step that outraged the environmental community.” Oops…  turns out there was a better use for those cap and trade dollars after all. Will New Yorkers survive? Stay tuned, you’ll be asking them personally when you find them living next door.

Next installment: learn how the unconstitutional soviet style agency, EPA, does Obama’s dirty work for him. Coming up soon.

US needs money – how about an exhale tax?

Man joggingOh dear. What’s a Marxist Socialist US President to do? The 10 year budget deficit has just been raised to $9 trillion dollars. I know – let’s just say it’s all George Bush’s fault. After all, he was President when this crisis emerged. But uh-oh – weren’t the Democrats in charge of the House and Senate during that same period? Ah, forget those trivial details. The Democrats and Republicans are experts at blaming each other for the problems we face today. Wasn’t it you and I who bailed out the auto makers, insurance companies, and banks with our own money? Didn’t we citizens create all those excessive spending programs while Congress and the Senate stood helplessly at the sidelines begging us to stop?

It gets worse. It has been reliably reported that the federal government currently is sitting on $100 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities, mainly for social security, medicare, and medicaid. Know any business owners? Ask them what the government would do to them if they had unfunded pension plan liabilities, for example. Nobody to ask because companies are going belly up faster than you can say “Commerce Clause”? I’ll tell you – they’d go to jail. And they would be vilified in the media by the same thugs breaking the same rules – the federal government. The US government’s $100 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities makes Bernie Madoff look like a dime store shop lifter.

But back to the $100 trillion dollars the government has committed to take from one group of folks to give to others. The number is staggering: it equals roughly 10 times the value of every single thing produced in the US in one year. Don’t make me say that twice!

So how will we pay for government health care? The cost for that adds as much as $1 trillion to the liabilities shown above. We can’t sell much more debt to the Chinese. I think they’re on to us. And raising taxes is tricky. All those un-American and un-patriotic people have been showing up at those tiresome Town Hall Meetings and Tea Parties saying they hate taxes, Senators, and Congresspersons – and even the President.

One way is create money out of thin air. This is so much more convenient now that we have high speed computers and a willing private bank called the Federal Reserve. The Fed simply adds some zeros to a number in a computer and voila! Like magic, America has more money to spend on health care! It’s a beautiful thing! The public will never know – that is until a loaf of bread costs $20.00.

But my favorite federal government fund raiser is Cap and Trade a/k/a ‘Carbon Tax’. This will permit the government to levy unlimited taxes on just about anything that produces emissions. Expect to see an ‘exhale tax’ after they pass Cap and Trade. Every breath you take produces CO2 and that contributes to global warming doesn’t it? And that’s why the government conceived Cap and Trade isn’t it? Only one problem: global warming is rapidly losing any semblance of credibility. Hey, how about a tax on global cooling …?

An exhale tax is just what a Marixt-Socialist US government needs to generate funds for its utopian worker’s paradise here in America. It will raise unlimited revenue to spend as they choose. And that revenue will come from you – every time you exhale.
